LT Norman Overfield

LT Norman Overfield commissioned in May 2014 through the U.S. Naval Academy (USNA), graduating with a B.S. in Computer Science.

Commissioning as an Information Professional (IP) Officer, his first assignment was at Naval Network Warfare Command (NAVNETWARCOM) in Suffolk, VA. While at NAVNETWARCOM, he served as battle watch captain (BWC). While stationed at NAVNETWARCOM, he was assigned temporary duty to support Navy Cyber Defense Operations Command (NCDOC) as a BWC.  He also selected temporary duty to support USS OSCAR AUSTIN (DDG-79) as the Information Security Officer while deployed to 5th and 6th Fleet operating areas.

In August of 2017 he reported to Navy Information Operations Command (NIOC) Hawaii as the Officer in Charge (OIC) for 93 Cyber Protection Team and N9A3 Department Head. Upon completion of this tour in September 2020, he transferred to the Selected Reserve (SELRES), continuing as an IP Officer.

His first reserve assignment was the N6 Department Head at Joint Intelligence Operations Center (JIOC) Headquarters in Pearl Harbor, HI. During this time, he completed his M.S. degree in Computer Science from the University of Hawaii.

Upon selection for the USNA Reserve Officer Recall, he reported to Annapolis, Maryland in July of 2022 as an Instructor in the Center for Cyber Security Studies. He is currently a PhD Student in Cyber Operations at Dakota State University with a target graduation date of May 2029. 

LT Overfield’s personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards) and Joint Service Achievement Medal.
