EE344: Solid-State Power Electronics

Description

(3-2-4).  [Fall]     The course covers aspects of the analysis, simulation, design, control, and prototyping of power electronic circuits, with an emphasis on industrial and Department of Defense applications. Topical coverage includes rectifiers, dc-dc converters, dc-ac inverters, motor drives, semiconductor device characteristics, and practical issues such as snubbers, drivers, and heat dissipation. Design through mathematical modeling and simulation, followed by implementation and testing, is emphasized.  (Prerequisite: EE241 or equivalent)
