EE488P: Power Conversion
(3-2-4) This course covers the analysis, simulation, design, control, and construction of systems that convert electric power to the electrical and mechanical domains. Topics include power electronic circuits, motors, system design, and feedback control. Applications in renewable energy, manufacturing, robotics, and defense. The course provides a broad overview from low-level design to the selection of commercial products, and is especially useful for students in their capstone or research projects that include power conversion. Design through mathematical modeling and simulation, followed by implementation and testing, is emphasized.
