Profile
A native of Aguada, Puerto Rico, Major Desiree Sanchez enlisted in the Marine Corps in December 2000. In 2002, she received admission to the United States Naval Academy and commissioned a Second Lieutenant in May 2007. Her first assignment as a Logistics Officer was with the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing (3D MAW) G-4 in 2008. In 2009, she was transferred to Marine Wing Support Squadron 373 where she served as the Support Company Executive Officer, and Motor Transport Platoon Commander. In 2010 she deployed with the unit in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) 10.2 to Helmand Province, Afghanistan. After the unit’s return in 2011 she transferred to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar as the S-4 Operations Officer. In 2012 Captain Sanchez redeployed to Afghanistan in support of OEF 12.2 with 3D MAW G-4 (Fwd). Upon her return in 2013 she transferred to 3d Marine Expeditionary Brigade in Okinawa, Japan where she served in the G-4 until 2015, and participated in a myriad of exercises throughout Southeast Asia. From 2015 to 2017 she served as the Protocol Director at Marine Barracks Washington, D.C. In 2017 Major Sanchez became the Aide-de-Camp to the 34th and 35th Assistant Commandants of the Marine Corps. Major Sanchez joined the Stockdale Center in the Summer of 2020 for her current assignment.
Major Sanchez holds a B.S. in Political Science, with a Spanish Minor from the U.S. Naval Academy, and is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Strength and Conditioning from the George Washington University.
