Professor Sharika Crawford, Assistant Professor, Department of History, USNA

Sharika Crawford received a Ph.D. (2009) in Latin American history from the University of Pittsburgh. Her research has focused on circum-Caribbean migration, maritime borderlands, and the experience of Afro-Latin Americans. Dr. Crawford is the recipient of several prestigious national awards and fellowships including an IIE/Fulbright grant (Colombia), Andrew W. Mellon Fellowship, and a National Endowment for the Humanities summer stipend. Finally, the United States Naval Academy has recognized her as an outstanding instructor with an Apgar Award for Teaching Excellence.
