Is it a problem if I arrive late?
No, but you may miss some of the special international performances.
Where can I pick up the tickets?
There will be a Will Call on location in Alumni Hall.
Where do I park?
Parking will be available at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Parking is $5 but the shuttle to and from the parking lot to the Ball is free. You can also park in town and walk through Gate 3 of the academy at the end of Maryland Ave.
Can I take a taxi cab to the event?
No. Taxi cabs are not permitted on the Naval Academy grounds. The closest drop off to Alumni Hall would be Gate 3 at the end of Maryland Ave.
Are there any age restrictions?
The International Ball is a college-level event and only for persons age 18 years and older. There are no exceptions to this rule. All attendees must be 18 years or older.
What is the average age of attendees?
The majority of the attendees are approximately average age 19-31. However the minimum age of attendance is 18.
What is the cost of tickets?
Tickets for Midshipmen are free, just go down to the Midshipman Ticket Office and pick one up.
I was not invited to the VIP reception; can I purchase a ticket for it?
No. The VIP reception is invite only.
Will there be a coat check?
What is the dress code for civilians?
Black Tie Formal. This means long dress or dressy cocktail dress for females and black tie for men.
What is the uniform for Midshipmen?
The uniform for Midshipmen is Mess Dress Blue, and unfortunately this also the policy for female Midshipmen.
Will there be food at the event?
Light appetizers will be served on the upper concourse with water and soft drinks.
Will alcohol be available at the event?
Can we bring our own food or drink?
Unfortunately, no outside food or beverage is permitted.
When does the dancing start?
General dancing will begin at the conclusion of the opening ceremony and cultural exhibitions. Attendance for the ceremony and cultural exhibitions is highly recommended. Exhibitions are expected to conclude at approximately 8:30 p.m.
When does the dance end?
Music will conclude at 1130 p.m. in order to facilitate the end of the event at midnight.
When does liberty for Midshipmen expire?
Midshipmen liberty is extended until 1 a.m. Note to Midshipmen: All Midshipmen not on weekend will have to sign TAPS by 0100.
What type of music will be played during the ball?
A mix of music from different cultures as well as modern dance songs to appeal to all tastes will be played. A live band will kick-off the evening’s festivities, and a professional DJ will follow for the majority of the evening. There will be great mix of music to set the scene for dancing and a memorable evening.
How large is the event?
Approximately 3,000 people from different parts of the world and all over the country will be in attendance.
Can I bring my camera into Alumni Hall?
Yes! Photos are always encouraged; there will be plenty of memorable moments to share with others!
