LCDR Beitler was commissioned in May 2010 through the United States Naval Academy, where he wrestled and earned a bachelor’s degree in economics. Upon graduation, he reported to the USS RENTZ (FFG46), in San Diego, CA, as the First Lieutenant. While aboard USS Rentz, LCDR Beitler completed a Counter Narco-Terrorism to SOUTHPAC. While deployed, he became a designated Surface Warfare Officer. In the fall of 2011, he was selected for a lateral transfer to Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL training (BUD/S).

In January 2012, LCDR Beitler reported to BUD/S in Coronado, CA, where he spent two years as a SEAL training student. Upon graduating from SEAL Qualification Training in November of 2013, LCDR Beitler reported to SEAL TEAM TWO at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek, VA, where he assumed the Assistant Platoon Commander's role for Delta Platoon. While aboard SEAL TEAM TWO, he deployed to the Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa as an aide de camp and to Unit TWO as an outstation commander in Athens, Greece. Upon returning from his second SEAL TEAM TWO deployment in March 2016, LCDR Beitler transferred to Naval Special Warfare Group ONE on Naval Amphibious Center Coronado, CA, as the Current and Future Operations Officer and deployed to Al Assad, Iraq in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. Upon returning from deployment in July of 2017, he transferred to SEAL TEAM SEVEN and assumed Platoon Commander's role for Hotel Platoon. There, LCDR Beitler deployed to Iraq from April 2019 – October 2019 as a TRIDENT element Commander in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.
In December of 2019, LCDR Beitler reported to the U.S. Naval Academy LEAD Division as the SEAL Program Director and an NL110 Leadership Instructor.
