Lieutenant Commander Alex Dietrich is a F/A-18F Super Hornet pilot from the VFA-41 “Black Aces” of Lemoore, CA, having logged over 1250 hours and 375 carrier arrested landings while serving two combat deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. Her most recent deployment was an Overseas Contingency Operations (OCO) assignment as a Provincial Reconstruction Team Engineer boots-on-ground in Ghazni, Afghanistan.

Previously she served as an aide-de-camp to the Chief of Naval Personnel and Director Navy Staff, and executive assistant to the Director Navy Irregular Warfare, at the Pentagon in Washington DC. LCDR Dietrich taught as an Assistant Professor of Naval Science at the George Washington University, where she was named the 2012 NDIA Leo Codd award “Most Outstanding NROTC Instructor.” Her personal awards include Air Combat and Bronze Star medals.    

LCDR Dietrich is an alumna of the Illinois Math & Science Academy. She received her B.S. in Civil Engineering from George Washington University in 2001 and attended the Defense Language Institute for Dari in 2010. She earned an MBA from the GW School of Business in 2014.

LCDR Dietrich was selected for the Junior Permanent Military Professor program in 2014 and served as a Leadership Instructor in the Department of Leadership Ethics and Law.  She teaches NL310, Leadership Theory, and Application.  She also enjoys mentoring and flying with future aviators in the Powered Flight Program.
