Captain Germano was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in August 2013 after completing Officer Candidate School. Captain Germano was assigned to the 1st Marine Division Office of the Staff Judge Advocate aboard Camp Pendleton, California, in June 2016. After service with the 1st Marine Division, Captain Germano then reported to The Basic School in October 2016 and graduated from Alpha Company 1-17.
Following The Basic School, Captain Germano attended the Basic Lawyer Course at the Naval Justice School, Newport, Rhode Island, and then served as a Defense Counsel within the Marine Corps Defense Services Organization (DSO) aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico, Quantico, Virginia. Captain Germano represented Marines and Sailors in some of the most sensitive and high-profile trials within the military courts, including Article 120 offenses, attempted murder, murder, and other complex felony trials. In 2020 Captain Germano was named the ‘Defense Counsel of the Year’ for the National Capital Region.
Captain Germano was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal for his time as a trial attorney with the Defense Services Organization.
Captain Germano reported to the United States Naval Academy in the Summer of 2020 to serve as an Assistant Professor of Military Law.
