Captain Jason Rimmer is a third generation Sailor from Sherman, Texas.  He was commissioned in 1995 and graduated with merit from the U.S. Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.  He was designated a naval aviator in June 1997 and flew the SH-60B Seahawk helicopter throughout his career.

Most recently, Captain Rimmer commanded Amphibious Squadron EIGHT and the BATAAN Amphibious Ready Group (BATARG) from June 2020 to November 2021.

From June 2017 to January 2020, he served as Commanding Officer and Executive Officer of USS KEARSARGE (LHD 3).  He commanded the ship during its 2018-19 deployment to SIXTH and FIFTH Fleets and led the crew in earning the COMNAVSURFLANT Battle "E"; for 2017, 2018, and 2019.

Other sea assignments have included:  Navigator, USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN 72); Commanding Officer and Executive Officer, Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Light FOUR NINE (HSL-49) where he led the transition of the final SH-60B squadron to the MH-60R; Department Head, HSL-49 and Helicopter Detachment OIC deploying in USS PRINCETON (CG 59) to SEVENTH Fleet; Catapult and Arresting Gear Officer and V-2 Division Officer, USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER (CVN 69) deploying to SEVENTH Fleet; and Division Officer and Helicopter Aircraft Commander in HSL-43 deploying twice to SEVENTH and FIFTH Fleets in USS JARRETT (FFG 33).

His shore assignments have included:  Deputy, Vertical Lift and Executive Assistant, Fleet Readiness Center Southwest (FRCSW); Deputy, Net-Centric Innovation Division, Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization (JIEDDO); and Assistant Professor of Naval Science, George Washington University Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC) Unit.

He graduated from the George Washington University in 2004 earning a Master's in Business Administration.  He is also a graduate of the Joint Forces Staff College where he earned the Douglas MacArthur Award for writing.

His decorations include the Legion of Merit (two awards), the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Award (five awards), and the Navy Achievement Award.  He has proudly served in commands that have earned numerous unit commendations and
Battle "E"; awards.

He joined the team in LEAD Division as Director in January 2022.
