CAPT Kevin Mullaney, USN

CAPT Kevin Mullaney was born in Huntsville, AL and raised in Colonial Heights, VA. He graduated with a B.A. in English from the University of Notre Dame in 1994 and received his commission through the NROTC program.

After completing the nuclear power training pipeline in Orlando, FL and Charleston, SC, he reported aboard the USS MARYLAND (SSBN 738)(BLUE),  where he served as the Electrical Division Officer, Main Propulsion Assistant, Damage Control Assistant, and Tactical Systems Officer. His department head tours included a Depot Modernization Period in the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, NH as the Navigator onboard the USS ALEXANDRIA (SSN 757) and two Western Pacific Deployments while serving as the Weapons Officer onboard the USS HELENA (SSN 725) in San Diego, CA. CDR Mullaney next reported onboard USS SANTA FE (SSN 763) as the Executive Officer, completing post overhaul certification and sea trials in Portsmouth, NH and a home port shift to Pearl Harbor, HI. 

CAPT Mullaney's assignments ashore include English Instructor at the Naval Academy Prep School in Newport, RI, where he earned an M.A. in English and Rhetoric from the University of Rhode Island, and Future Capability, Experimentation, and Wargaming Officer (N821) at Commander, Submarine Force in Norfolk, VA.  In 2009, CDR Mullaney was selected as a Permanent Military Professor and completed his M.A. and Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology at the University of Illinois Urbana/Champaign.  Upon reporting to the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, he served as the director of the 4/C leadership course as well as chair of the Leader Development and Research (LDR) department and the Leadership, Ethics, and Law (LEL) department.

CAPT Mullaney's awards include Navy Commendation and Achievement Medals and various unit and service awards.
