Renewing and Requesting Items
Material can be renewed, in person, at the Circulation Desk, by calling the Circulation Department (410-293-6945) or by sending e-mail to the Circulation Department.
To renew items online please follow this link: View Patron Record. You must have a library card with a barcode to use this feature. Note: For midshipmen, Library cards were only created for the classes of 2015. All others must contact Circulation Department to get their barcode.
Items with holds placed on them will not be renewed and must be returned on or before the due date.
There are no limits on the number of times a midshipman can renew a book as long as there are no holds pending. Staff and other borrowers are normally limited to one renewal. If additional renewals are needed contact the Circulation Department.
Requesting an Item that is Checked Out and Recalling Items
Items that have been on loan for less than one week will not normally be recalled. If the current borrower has had the item for at least 7 days Circulation Department staff will ask the borrower to return the item for you to use. If these standard procedures will not meet your needs please speak to a staff member at the Circulation Desk or contact the Circulation Department.
If the Nimitz Library catalog shows that the item you need is checked out, you may request that it be held for you upon its return to the Library.
You may take a printout of the item record to the Circulation Desk or email firstname.lastname@example.org to place your request.
You will be notified via email when the item has been returned to the Library. It will be held for you at the Circulation Desk for 7 days from the date notification is sent.
