Mary Abraham M. Psy.
Mary Abraham is a psychology doctoral candidate and clinical extern working in the MDC for the 2021-2022 academic year. Mary is a doctoral student at the Institute for Psychological Sciences at Divine Mercy University, where she previously earned her masters degree in Clinical Psychology (M.Psy.). She is an alumni of Penn State University where she studied psychology, neuroscience, and biology while also helping to conduct research on Borderline Personality Disorder.
Prior to beginning her role at the MDC, Mary externed in community mental health and has experience working with diverse populations in the greater Washington, DC area. She is passionate about a holistic and integrative approach to psychotherapy that considers the whole person when determining treatment plans and intervention. This may include factors such as clients’ value-frameworks, personal goals, and cultural and religious beliefs. She works primarily from an interpersonal and cognitive-behavioral framework, emphasizing clients’ existing strengths and skills while collaboratively developing a plan for growth.
