General Science Objectives and Outcomes

 USNA graduates in General Science are able to:

  1.  communicate clearly and effectively, in plain English and with technical precision (“Communication (Oral and Written)”),
  2. recognize and recall information from a broad range of mathematical and scientific disciplines, including physics, oceanography, biology, computer science, mathematics and operations research (“The ‘Basics’”),
  3. interpret and appropriately use scientific and mathematical ideas, including interdisciplinary work, using cross-disciplinary skill sets (“Analysis”), and
  4. determine whether arguments are valid and conclusions reasonable (“Evaluation”).
