    Mark O'Connor Trio

"No matter what he plays, when you're listening to O'Connor, you know you're listening to genius." —THE SEATTLE TIMES

"A direct disciple and former sideman of [Stephanie] Grappelli...Mr. O'Connor makes Mr. Grapelli's long, swiveling lines even longer and smoother." —THE NEW YORK TIMES

"What I find to be more exciting about Hot Swing is the collective willingness of its members to knock down the artificial boundaries between seemingly different musical idioms.”  —WASHINGTON POST

Grammy Award-winning violinist/composer/fiddler Mark O'Connor is widely recognized as one of the most gifted contemporary composers in America and one of the brightest talents of his generation.  Mark O'Connor incorporates many musical styles and genres into a sound that is uniquely his own.  As noted by The Los Angeles Times, Mark O'Connor has "crossed over so many boundaries, that his style is purely personal."  O'Connor's jazz performances and compositions pay tribute to his friend and mentor; the legendary French jazz master Stephanie Grappelli.  While performing a number of tunes closely associated with Grappelli, O'Connor's albums and live performances extend the repertoire with O'Connor's original compositions.  Joined guitarists such as Frank Vignola and Julian Lage, "Hot Swing" continues to celebrate acoustic string jazz in new and exciting ways.

    Czech Philharmonic

"Its wind and brass still play with a coloration that registers as earthier and more textured than that of most European and American orchestras." —New York Times

"The Czech Philharmonic’s live performance breathes a conviction and beneath-the-skin rapture that you won’t find in any other recording." —Financial Times

"The Czech Philharmonic boasts a burnished and refined European sound, with a warm, string-dominated center, brilliant brass and inimitable, characterful woodwinds, which serve music of their native composers Dvorak, Janacek and Martinu so well." —Miami Sun Sentinel

For over a century, the Czech Philharmonic has represented the pinnacle of Czech cultural achievement.  In 1896, Dvorák conducted the orchestra’s debut performance at the Rudolfinum in Prague, still home to the orchestra’s Prague concerts, and the centre for its new Orchestral Academy.  In 1908, Mahler conducted the Czech Philharmonic for the world premiere of his Symphony No.7.  Over its existence, the Czech Philharmonic has welcomed as Principal Guest Conductor some of the world’s foremost interpreters of the orchestral Repertoire.  Continuing today, under the baton of the inimitable Jiří Bělohlávek, the Czech Philharmonic pushes forward to a new era, combining tradition with innovation as an orchestra at the height of its powers.

    Russian National Ballet

“The Russian National Ballet Theatre, Directed by Elena Radchenko, is a cut above many of its rivals." —Washington Post

The Russian National Ballet Theatre was founded in Moscow during the transitional period of Perestroika in the late 1980s, when many of the great dancers and choreographers of the Soviet Union's ballet institutions were exercising their new-found creative freedom by starting new, vibrant companies dedicated not only to the timeless tradition of classical Russian Ballet but to invigorate this tradition as the Russians began to accept new developments in the dance from around the world.  The company, then titled the Soviet National Ballet, . . . was founded by and incorporated graduates from the great Russian choreographic schools of Moscow, St. Petersburg and Perm.  The principal dancers of the company came from the upper ranks of the great ballet companies and academies of Russia, and the companies of Riga, Kiev and even Warsaw.  Today, the Russian National Ballet Theatre is its own institution, with over 50 dancers of singular instruction and vast experience, many of whom have been with the company since its inception.  In 1994, legendary Bolshoi principal dancer, Elena Radchenko, was selected by Presidential decree to assume the 1st permanent artistic directorship of the company, and remains its leader.
