Naval Academy Announces Thanksgiving Holiday Gate Hours

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - U.S. Naval Academy Gates 1 and 3 will have modified hours during the Thanksgiving holiday. The following gate hours will be in place during the holiday period of    Nov. 27-30, 2014. All USNA gates will resume their normal hours Monday, Dec. 1.

  Gate 1 (at the foot of King George St.):

       Vehicular Access: Open daily for vehicular access from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., with the exception of         Sunday, Nov. 30, which will remain open for vehicular access until 10 p.m.

       Pedestrians: The Visitor’s Access Center will be open to pedestrians as follows: Thursday, Nov. 27, from 6 a.m. to midnight; Friday and Saturday, Nov. 28-29, from 6 a.m. to 2 a.m.; and Sunday, Nov. 30, from 6 a.m. to midnight.

Gate 3 (Maryland Ave.): Will be closed for vehicular and pedestrian traffic throughout the holiday with the following exceptions:

     Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 27: Open to pedestrians only from 8 a.m. to noon

     Nov. 28: Open to pedestrians only from 2:30-9 p.m. in support of Navy Basketball

     Nov. 29: Open to pedestrians only from noon until 9 p.m. in support of the Navy basketball game

     Nov. 30: Open to pedestrians only from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in support of religious services

 Gate 8 (Route 450): Gate 8 hours will not change throughout the holiday season and will remain open 24 hours a day.

     Visitors are reminded that everyone 18 and older will be required to show a picture ID and that all bags are subject to search. Vehicles without a Department of Defense or USNA credentialed driver or passenger are not permitted to drive onto the academy grounds. Visitors are encouraged to park at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium (price to park is $5) and ride the circulator bus to the academy.  Vehicles with handicapped placards or license plates may enter through Gates 1 or 8.
