POSTED ON: Monday, November 13, 2017 8:00 AM by LT Alexander Laun, USN
On Tuesday, November 7, 2017, a group of 23 1/C midshipmen from the Underwater Work Systems (EN430) course, taught by CDR Andy Gish (USNA '93), visited the headquarters of Phoenix International in Largo, Maryland. Phoenix International is a leading underwater engineering firm that builds and operates unmanned underwater systems for the United States Navy. Midshipmen had the opportunity to speak with engineers and operators about real-world underwater engineering challenges, and they even had a chance to operate the manipulator arm of the Navy's largest remotely-operated vehicle (ROV)! The NAOE Department would like to extend a special thanks to Mr. Peter LeHardy (USNA '89) for hosting the visit.
