Oceanography Department faculty present at the 2016 AGU Fall Meeting

Dr. Gina Henderson, Dr. Bradford Barrett, and Dr. Joseph Smith of the U.S. Naval Academy Oceanography Department presented research at the 2016 American Geophysical Union (AGU) Fall Meeting. The AGU Fall Meeting was held from December 12-16, 2016 in San Francisco, CA with approximately 30,000 scientists, exhibitors, and members of the public in attendance. The AGU is a non-profit organization of geophysical scientists whose mission is to "promote discovery in Earth and space science for the benefit of humanity."
Dr. Henderson (left) presented a research poster with Dr. Barrett (right) titled, "Assessing STEM content learning: using the Arctic’s changing climate to develop 21st century learners." In addition, Dr. Barrett presented a research poster titled, "Characteristics of propagating Madden-Julian and Boreal Summer Intraseasonal Oscillations," which also featured work by current oceanography major MIDN 2/C Densmore. Dr. Smith (not pictured) presented an oral presentation highlighting his work on the role of organic matter in flocculation in the Misa River in Senigallia, Italy. This work involved two former Midshipmen oceanography majors from the class of 2015, Michael Fuller and Kevin Lois.
