Teachers representing ten schools from Baltimore City and educators from Morgan State University built and launched underwater robots and investigated real world topics at Morgan State University on Friday, May 5 and Saturday, May 6 during a STEM educator workshop run by faculty and staff from the USNA STEM Center.
Sponsored by DoD STEM and the Office of Naval Research, the workshop was designed to provide the educators with hands-on, project-based training in current technical content areas with real world relevance. Activities included projects with sensors, circuits, batteries, sound, light, and engineering design applications.
Emphasis was placed on building the STEM community of teachers in the local area. Amanda Payton from Bay Brook Elementary School and STEM educator for the Downtown Sailing Center commented, "This training will be directly transferred to a classroom application. [I am] very excited!"
