After spending several months building their SeaPerch underwater remotely operated vehicles, 110 fifth graders from Talbot County Public Schools launched their SeaPerch in the Hydro lab tow tanks. The students and their teachers participated in other related activities included straw rockets, buoyancy trials and fluids experiments. All received an introduction into the many applications of underwater ROVs including those most relevant to the Navy. About 30 faculty and staff, including technical support and enlisted personnel, facilitated the activities. The Office of Naval Research and the AUVSI Foundation are primary sponsors of the SeaPerch program.
