Midshipmen led hands-on STEM activities for over 480 elementary school students from 20 Maryland public schools in Baltimore, Charles, and Anne Arundel Counties.

MESA Days were held on November 16 and 29 at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab in partnership with the Maryland MESA (Mathematics, Engineering, and Science Achievement). About thirty-two midshipmen supported each event, presenting engaging activities in Navy-relevant topic areas such as robotics and coding, hull design and buoyancy, water chemistry, hydraulics, bioterrorism, cyber, engineering design, and more.

MIDN Kathryn Fung noted, "The kids made learning fun. They are actually interested in learning which makes me interested in learning!" MIDN Annie Imhoff remarked, "I learned how to actively and efficiently explain a complex topic to young kids....and that demonstration and hands-on activities ensure learning and realization."

Teachers also had the opportunity to participate in a project based learning workshop offered by STEM Center faculty and staff.
