POSTED ON: Friday, September 20, 2019 12:00 AM by Angela Moran

The 53rd Historic Naval Ships Association Annual Conference was held from 17-20 September at the Wisconsin Maritime Museum in Manitowoc. The conference featured sessions on technology, education, preservation, conservation, and diversity as well as an informal educator workshop on STEM topics provided by USNA Professors Patrick Moran and Angela Moran. Attendees for the STEM workshop hailed from sixteen different Naval museums or museum ships including the USS Lexington Museum, the USS Albacore, the USS Midway, the USS Bowfin, the USS Cobia, and the Battleship Texas. Hands on activities were provided in topics that are readily related to technology found on board Navy vessels such as electricity, circuits, batteries, sensors, hydraulics, gears, mechanical systems, fluids, flight, acoustics, and optics.
