On March 13, USNA STEM Center faculty and staff provided a STEM Educator Virtual Workshop in collaboration with Philadelphia Regional Institute for STEM Educators (PRISE), part of the Philadelphia Regional Noyce Partnership that provides scholarships to recruit and prepare STEM majors and professionals to become K-12 teachers. The event was a virtual but live, interactive Professional Development workshop facilitated by the USNA STEM Center and sponsored by the Office of Naval Research.
The workshop focused on content and hands-on activities in Cyber Science, Chemistry, Biology, Environment, and Engineering. Real-world applications, alignment with national math and science standards, and scalability to different grade levels were emphasized in the session discussions, as well as connections to Education for Sustainability Standards and Culturally Responsive Teaching.
