On August 17, 2021, the USNA STEM Center presented a hands-on academic session on Principles of Flight to executives from Boeing Autonomous Systems, a Naval Academy Foundation sponsor for student and educator STEM outreach programs in underserved areas. STEM Center Faculty Mark Murray joined Aerospace Engineering Faculty LT COL (Ret) Scott Davids and Aerospace Engineering TAD ENS Annie Imhof to implement sessions on Bernoulli’s Principle, Rocket Stability and Engineering Design, and Rotors and Lift. Boeing participants tested their rotors in the Fluids Lab and pneumatically launched their rockets in the Aero Lab. The Naval Academy Foundation also provided the Boeing leaders and mentors with a tour of Hopper Hall.
The USNA STEM Center is sponsored by ONR and DoDSTEM for its student, educator and S&E outreach programs, in addition to the Foundation.
