STEM Outreach Day, Wildwood Academy

On October 28, the USNA STEM Center presented a STEM Outreach Day for middle and high school students at Wildwood Catholic Academy in Wildwood, NJ. About 200 students participated in the event which was led by USNA faculty and staff, Joe McGettigan, Chris Brown, Lou Cox, Sarah Durkin, and Christine Maceo, along with midshipmen, Leetasia Midgette, Daisy Reasbeck, Brant Purcell, Ella Vath, and Maia Vath. Middle school students attended a STEM fair where they rotated through hands-on stations that included robotics, DNA extraction, and hydraulics. High school students attended classroom sessions where they conducted experiments and investigated defense-related topic areas that included robotics, hydraulics, electrical circuits, biofuels, cybersecurity, and flight. USNA STEM Center student outreach events are supported by DoD STEM, ONR, and the Naval Academy Foundation.Category: General Interest
