On December 6, the USNA STEM Center and Midshipmen Action Group (MAG) presented a virtual interactive STEM program for youth at Oak Harbor Boys and Girls Club in Washington State. MIDN Maya Wade, Xiang Chi, and Camren Taylor led students in hands-on projects to explore principles of flight. Students worked through the engineering design process to design, build, test, and re-design hoop gliders and "whirlygig" rotorcraft, while learning about Bernoulli's Principle and autorotation. Midshipmen answered student questions about life at the Naval Academy and becoming a Naval officer. Special guest and Naval Academy alumni, CAPT Eric Hanks, Commanding Officer of nearby Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, joined the students at the Boys and Girls Club facility for the outreach event.
