NOTE TO EDITORS AND REPORTERS:  Please call the Naval Academy Public Affairs Office at (410) 293-2292 by noon, Friday, April 4.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — The Naval Academy Brigade of Midshipmen will present the first formal dress parade for the season this Friday, April 4 at 4 p.m. on Worden Field.  The Honorable Governor of Maryland, Martin O’Malley will be the parade reviewer. The public is invited to attend without charge.

Parades are a visual presentation of the military discipline, professionalism and teamwork necessary to succeed as a member of the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps, and have been a part of Naval Academy training since its establishment in 1845. The Brigade of Midshipmen marches from Bancroft Hall to the Naval Academy parade field, Worden Field, accompanied by the Naval Academy Band and the Drum & Bugle Corps of the Brigade of Midshipmen.  On Worden Field the Brigade performs the manual of arms, renders honors to the senior officer or civilian dignitary present, and passes in review before the official party and guests.

Pedestrian visitors may walk to the parade through Gate 1 (at the intersection of King George Street and Randall Street) or Gate 3 (Maryland Avenue) and will be required to show a picture ID.  All bags are subject to search.

The requirement for DOD vehicle Decals has been eliminated.  Anyone with a locally prepared USNA ID Card or a DOD credential, including military retirees and dependents will not be required to have a decal or to get a temporary pass to drive onto the installation thru Gate 8 (Md. Route 450) or Gate 1 (King George Street).

Vehicles without Department of Defense or USNA credentialed driver or passenger  are not permitted to drive onto the academy grounds. For a complete list of visitor access information, maps, and security restrictions, click here:
