Captain Cory M. Kampf, USMC

Captain Cory M. Kampf graduated with a Bachelor of Science in International Relations from the Naval Academy in 2009. Upon graduation and commissioning, Second Lieutenant Kampf served at the Institute for Defense Analyses in Alexandria, Virginia as a member of the Joint Advanced Warfighting Division, and attended The University of Oxford, where he earned a Master of Philosophy in Modern Chinese Studies in July 2011.

First Lieutenant Kampf completed The Basic School in Quantico, Virginia in March 2012, and subsequently attended Infantry Officer Course, Scout Sniper Unit Leaders Course, and Ground Intelligence Officer Course.

In November 2012 he reported to 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, where he served as a Rifle Platoon Commander, Scout Sniper Platoon Commander, and Weapons Company Executive Officer. As the Scout Sniper Platoon Commander, Captain Kampf deployed with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit in February 2014 and led his platoon on a mission to reinforce the U.S. Embassy, Baghdad in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. While deployed to the U.S. Embassy, Baghdad, Captain Kampf also served as the primary liaison officer for coordinating and supervising interagency efforts between Marine Corps forces and State Department security personnel.

Captain Kampf was assigned to the Political Science Department, U.S. Naval Academy in May 2015 and currently teaches courses on American Government and International Relations.
