Students visiting the Naval Academy from high schools in New Orleans and Alabama participated in a mini-STEM event on Friday, October 11, 2013.
Led by faculty and midshipmen, visiting students participated in a variety of hands-on engineering design, science, and computer acitivities in the lab spaces in Rickover Hall.
Students had a great time building and firing straw rockets, designing, building and testing catapults, building model houses and testing their ability to withstand high winds, and learning computer simulation with the ALICE program. Four faculty and eight midshipmen participated as module facilitators, sparking student interest in exciting STEM subject areas.
