Chief Musician Jason Broadwater hails from St. Clairsville, Ohio, and graduated from St. Clairsville High School in 1999. After graduation, he attended West Virginia University, where he earned a Bachelor of Music in visual and performing arts in 2004.

In 2004, Broadwater enlisted in the Navy and reported to the Navy School of Music in Little Creek, Virginia. Upon completion of Musician "A" School, he was assigned to Navy Band New Orleans where he performed on tuba. Shortly after reporting to Navy Band New Orleans, he volunteered to be the audio engineer for the rock ensemble, "Express." He then reported back to the Navy School of Music to enroll in the Sound Reinforcement Course.

Broadwater auditioned and was selected for duty as Audio Engineer with the U.S. Naval Academy Band in 2007. He is the USNA Band’s Supply Manager and serves as enlisted conductor for the band’s Ceremonial Unit, plays tuba in marching band, and is the Audio Archive Manager, Motorcycle Safety Coordinator, and Impact Cardholder. Broadwater also the Midshipmen Enlisted Representative for the WRNV Radio Station. 

Broadwater's awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards), the Navy Good Conduct Medal (five awards), the Armed Forces Service Medal, and the Humanitarian Service Medal.
