There are no scheduled quizzes, but I reserve the right to give a quiz at any time.  There will be weekly homework assignments, which will be graded from 0-5.  Failure to turn in a homework will result in a zero.

Labs:

The class is held in the Lab.  During class, there will be a particular assignment to complete.  Completing the labs will then become your homework.

Practicum Exams

The midterm and final will include a programming portion, where you will be given a task and you must write a program to complete it.

Programming Project:

There will be a final programming project, where you will work on your own to solve a problem.
  1. Students will work individually.

Additionally, students must ensure that their work is submitted by the deadline regardless of other commitments, i.e. duty, sick call, movement orders. Should bona fide emergencies arise, it is the responsibility of the student to coordinate with the instructor (emergency leave, hospitalization, SIR, etc.). If a student is to miss an exam due to a movement order, etc,

Class Conduct:

Students are expected to uphold all professional standards while in class.

Food/Beverages:

The Computer Science department rules state that there will be no consumption of food in any Computer Science class- lab or classroom. Beverages are permitted in classrooms and labs if in closed containers. System Engineering classroom policies may trump this policy in this matter.

Exams:

3 exams will be administered. There will be an early exam (4th week) to make sure you've been paying attention. A proper midterm will be given in October. The final exam will be comprehensive. If for some reason a make-up exam will be required, inform the instructor at least 1 week in advance.
