Adam and Eve Chesspiece

This depiction of Adam and Eve eating from the tree around which the serpent is entwined is found on the back of a Rook made of elephant ivory, probably produced in twelfth-century France. Taken from Neil Stratford, The Lewis Chessmen and the Enigma of the Hoard (British Museum Press, 1997), plate 39.
