Tomb of Daniel near Samarqand in Uzbekistan
Medieval Egyptian historians mention that Daniel was born in Egypt and was later buried there. Other traditions claim that the tomb of Daniel was located in Sus or Susa in Iran. Some early accounts of the Muslim conquests of Iran mention that the body of Daniel was discovered by the conquerors still intact. Later historians report that Timur took the remains of Daniel's body from the tomb in Sus and transferred those remains to the current tomb near Samarqand.
