Stone of Destiny

Seventh and last gate in the Edinburgh Castle through which one must pass before entering the keep where the Stone of Destiny and the Crown Jewels are kept under guard.

 

Scone Palace where Scottish kings were enthroned on the Stone of Destiny before it was taken to England.

 

Stone under the throne upon which the Scottish kings would be enthroned. Similar rocks were used as symbols of royal authority by other kings, such as the Lia Fail Stone in Ireland.
