DEMIX Processing Steps in MICRODEM

Download and install MICRODEM
Consider Update of program EXE
Perform default GDAL installation from OSGeo4W. This is needed to read some of the DEMs, and has transformation grids to convert the vertical datums to EGM2008

Collect Reference data and downsample to 1" spacing

Collect landcover data for the test areas.

Create index database for each test area. Follow the format in the samples at https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.7600699 . You must have links to the vertical datum transformation if the files are not already EGM2008, and the landcover to use.

Collect test Global DEMs

Create the following directories in the root directory of a drive
- x:\mapdata\indexed_data\DEMs, with the following subdirectories
  - ALOS
  - ASTER
  - COP
  - FABDEM
  - NASA
  - SRTM
Download the 6 Global DEMs. Each is a separate downoad from a different location. Place files in correct subdirectories; they can be in additional subdirectories if desired.
Create index files for map library database

DEMIX wine contest criteria evaluation: Compute the elevation, slope, and roughness differences and their statistics organized by test DEM. There will be 3 separate databases created. Each global DEM will be in a separate record (line), and all the criteria evaluations for a tile will be on that line. Some operations later will only run on these three databases.

DEMIX create database (merge and transpose CSV files). These have one row organized per criterion and tile, with all 6 test DEMs on the same line. It will also rank and score the wine contest.

Manipulate the database, in MICRODEM or in the DEMIX Jupyter notebook
