Downsampling (create lower resolution grid)

Option on Raster GIS menu

• Thin (decimate DEM to lower spatial resolution).  Pick a thinning factor, n.
• Resample DEM/grid by averaging: pick a thinning factor, n.  The average of the the n-x-n points will be placed in the center of the region.  With an odd n, the point will be placed on a grid node in the original DEM; with an even n, the point will be half a pixel off from locations in the original grid.
• Thin/averaging comparison
• Gaussian pyramid downsample
• Average to new projection
• DEMIX 1 sec resample by averaging
