Modify Map Area

  • Full data set-- Zoom out to show entire data set.
  • Subset (graphical) & zoom. Pick the NW corner of your area of interest with a left mouse click, and then drag to the SE corner. Once you release the left mouse button the newly defined area of the map will be displayed at a larger scale. This can avoid scroll bars, or running out of memory.
  • Undoes last graphical resize.
  • Zoom in--makes map larger with same coverage area.  Enter desired zoom factor, or accept the default 2X (200%) setting, then click on the OK button to redraw the screen at the larger scale.  The map will get larger, and scroll bars may appear if it does not fit the current screen size.  At some point you will run out of memory.
  • 1:1 view: (best resolution view of the data)
  • Zoom out--makes map smaller with same coverage area. Enter the desired zoom factor, or accept the default 2X (200%) setting, then click on the OK button to redraw the screen at the smaller scale.  The map will get smaller.
  • Custom zoom: pick zoom factor.
  • Custom image size--set map size in pixels.  The final result will be the largest map that preserves the aspect ratio and fits within your selection.
  • Keyboard corners--pick the NW and SE corners of the grid, and the map will zoom to that extent.  You can also pick in terms of the extent of the display in terms of the data grid.
  • Set map pixel size--set map pixel size in meters. 

This popup is invoked  by Modify menu choice on Map child window or by right click on the map window.  The most important choices are also available with buttons on the map toolbar
