Times for Sunrise/Moonrise

Times for the sun and moon events are based on estimated local time, which has two key assumptions:

  1. Time zones are 15° wide, and have rational boundaries. In truth most time zones have been gerrymandered and have little relationship to this ideal, but there is no easy way to determine the time zone from a latitude and longitude.
  2. There is no daylight savings time.

The table will show you a shift (number of hours) from UTC. This must be adjusted during daylight savings time, and if you are in a gerrymandered part of your time zone.
