Assistant/Associate Professor (Weapons, Robotics & Control Engineering)
Review of applications will begin on November 17, 2023 and continue until the position is filled.
The Department of Weapons, Robotics, and Control Engineering (WRCE) invites highly qualified applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor, with preference for the Assistant Professor level, to begin as early as July 2024. The department faculty is a mix of civilian and military professors whose focus is on quality in-person instruction in small classes that average no more than twenty students. The Robotics and Control Engineering major prepares midshipmen for a world that is increasingly autonomous. Engineering labs are equipped with state-of-the-art autonomy and control testbeds, machine vision and robotics platforms, biomechanics instrumentation, systems for rapid artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) training and evaluation, and rapid prototyping tools. A permanent technical staff works closely with the faculty to support a deep commitment to project-based learning. Faculty in the department represent a broad range of academic disciplines and work closely with counterparts in other Engineering, Math, and Science departments to support both research and advances in undergraduate education. Candidates should have a strong commitment both to the teaching of undergraduates, and to the production and publication of peer reviewed research, providing a demonstrated contribution to their academic communities.
This is an onsite, 10-month compensation, excepted service federal faculty position with a 3-year renewable appointment, a highly competitive salary, and full federal benefits. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
