Assistant/Associate Professor (Weapons, Robotics & Control Engineering)

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Department of Weapons, Robotics, and Control Engineering (WRCE) invites highly qualified applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor, with preference for the Assistant Professor level, to begin as early as July 2024. The department faculty is a mix of civilian and military professors whose focus is on quality in-person instruction in small classes that average no more than twenty students. The Robotics and Control Engineering major prepares midshipmen for a world that is increasingly autonomous. Engineering labs are equipped with state-of-the-art autonomy and control testbeds, machine vision and robotics platforms, biomechanics instrumentation, systems for rapid artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) training and evaluation, and rapid prototyping tools. A permanent technical staff works closely with the faculty to support a deep commitment to project-based learning. Faculty in the department represent a broad range of academic disciplines and work closely with counterparts in other Engineering, Math, and Science departments to support both research and advances in undergraduate education. Candidates should have a strong commitment both to the teaching of undergraduates, and to the production and publication of peer reviewed research, providing a demonstrated contribution to their academic communities.
This is an onsite, 10-month compensation, excepted service federal faculty position with a 3-year renewable appointment, a highly competitive salary, and full federal benefits. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
