I am Assistant Professor of Mathematics at the US Naval Academy where I teach core classes in the calculus sequence, as well as optimization courses in the Operations Research major.  My research mostly involves applying mathematical theory to improve the performance of combinatorial, integer, and nonlinear optimization algorithms.  When I am not doing math, I like to be outdoors, either on a bicycle or in my garden.  I am also a long-time practitioner and former teacher of yoga, so I am not afraid to lead tree pose during a math class when my midshipmen seem particularly drowsy!
