Nimitz Library News: Spring 2022
POSTED ON: Monday, January 10, 2022 12:00 AM by Nimitz Library
Regular building hours resume
With the beginning of the new semester and the announcement of Condition Orange for the brigade, Nimitz Library will be open for its regular hours. On weekdays except Friday, that means we’re open 0700-2245. We’re staying flexible and doing our best to be here when you need us, and as we adapt to changing situations, we’ll keep our hours page updated with the latest information.
Get research help in person and online
Writing a research paper? Need help finding the best resource for an assignment? The subject specialist librarians are here for you! If you’re in Nimitz, stop by the Research Help Desk on the first deck. If you don’t want to leave Bancroft (or can’t leave Bancroft), get help via chat by clicking on the orange “Need help?” bar on the right side of the Nimitz website. We’re available Sunday through Friday, and this includes evenings starting 23 Jan. You can find Research Help Desk and chat hours here.
Silent study room now available on Nimitz 3rd deck
While we’re not the kind of librarians who go around “shhing” people, we do know many people work best in quiet spaces, and many of you have told us that Bancroft is not always conducive to quiet study. For those people, we’ve designated Ni306 a silent study room. We ask you to take conversations and group work to other library spaces and use headphones when listening to media.
Lunchtime events resume this semester
Lunchtime events are back! Please join us at Nimitz Library to hear the world-class USNA Band perform or catch a Faculty Research Talk to learn about the impressive research taking place across the Yard. If you haven’t been before, Faculty Research Talks give faculty a chance to highlight their research for an audience of non-experts. All midshipmen, faculty, and staff are invited to attend and will have a chance to ask questions at the end.
Grab your lunch (or purchase one here) and a friend and join us for these lunchtime events!
