POSTED ON: Wednesday, April 8, 2015 10:05 AM by

#025-15     ANNAPOLIS, Md. — The Naval Academy Brigade of Midshipmen will present their first formal dress parade of the season Friday, April 10 at 4 p.m. on Worden Field. The Superintendent of the Naval Academy, Vice Adm. Ted Carter, will be the parade reviewer. The public is invited to attend without charge.

Parades are a visual presentation of the military discipline, professionalism and teamwork necessary to succeed as a member of the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps, and have been a part of Naval Academy training since its establishment in 1845. The Brigade of Midshipmen marches from Bancroft Hall to the Naval Academy parade field, Worden Field, accompanied by the Naval Academy Band and the Drum & Bugle Corps of the Brigade of Midshipmen.  On Worden Field the Brigade performs the manual of arms, renders honors to the senior officer or civilian dignitary present, and passes in review before the official party and guests.

The Brigade of Midshipmen will present two additional formal parades, the Dedication Parade, April 24 at 4 p.m. and the Color Parade, May 21 at 11 a.m. Both will be held on Worden Field and are open to the public free of charge. Tickets are required for bleacher seating for the Color Parade.

Visitors may enter through Gate 3 (Maryland Avenue – recommended) or Gate 1 (at the intersection of King George Street and Randall Street) and will be required to show a picture ID.  All bags are subject to search. Vehicles without a Department of Defense or USNA credentialed driver or passenger are not permitted to drive onto the academy grounds. Visitors are encouraged to park at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium and walk or ride public transportation to the academy.  Authorized vehicles and vehicles with handicapped placards or license plates may enter through Gate 1 (King George Street) or Gate 8 (Maryland Route 450).  All bags and vehicles may be subject to search.
