Naval Academy Announces Holiday Gate Hours

#082-15     ANNAPOLIS, Md. - U.S. Naval Academy Gates 1 and 3 will have modified hours during the holiday season. The following gate hours will be in place during the holiday period of   Dec. 15 – Jan. 10. All USNA gates will resume their normal hours Monday, Jan. 11.

As a reminder, normal Naval Academy visiting hours are Sunrise to 5 p.m. or sunset, whichever is later, daily. Visitors will not be granted access prior to sunrise or after sunset unless coming on for a specific event such as basketball games, concerts, or Chapel services.

Gate 1 (at the foot of King George St.):

     Vehicular Access: Open daily for vehicular access from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

     Pedestrians: The Visitors Access Center will be open to pedestrians as follows: Sunday - Thursday, from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday, from 6 a.m. to midnight with the following exception: Friday, Dec. 31, the Visitors Access Center will remain open until 1 a.m.

Gate 3 (Maryland Ave.):

     Vehicular Access:  Closed for vehicular access throughout the holiday

     Pedestrian Access: Open for pedestrian access access from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday with the following exceptions:

Dec. 16: 6 a.m. - 10 p.m.

Dec. 17: 6 a.m. – 9:30 p.m.

Dec. 19: 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Dec. 20: 7:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Dec. 21: 6 a.m. – 9:30 p.m.

Dec. 22: 6 a.m. – 9:30 p.m.

Dec. 24: 6 a.m. – 11:30 p.m.

Dec. 25: 6 – 11:30 a.m.

Dec. 26: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Dec. 27: 7 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Dec. 30: 6 a.m. – 9:30 p.m.

Jan 1: 8-11:30 a.m.

Jan. 7: 6 a.m. – 9:30 p.m.

Jan. 9: 9 a.m. – 8 p.m.

Gate 8 (Route 450): Gate 8 hours will not change throughout the holiday season and will remain open 24 hours a day.

Visitors are reminded that everyone 18 and older will be required to show a picture ID and that all bags are subject to search.  Vehicles without a Department of Defense or USNA credentialed driver or passenger are not permitted to drive onto the academy grounds. Visitors are encouraged to park at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium (price to park is $5) and walk or ride public transportation to downtown Annapolis near the academy. Vehicles with handicapped placards or license plates may enter through Gates 1 or 8.
