Major League Baseball's Washington Nationals and Boston Red Sox to Play at Naval Academy's Baseball Stadium

POSTED ON: Thursday, March 30, 2017 3:00 PM by

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Naval Academy will host a Major League Baseball exhibition game at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 1, between the Washington Nationals and Boston Red Sox at the Terwilliger Brothers Field at Max Bishop Stadium. The game will be closed to the public and tickets are not available.

The Brigade of Midshipmen and select VIPs are the focused guests of the franchises for this event. The game will be televised on both the MASN and NESN sports network for fans to view the contest.

  • Members of the public are discouraged from attempting to attend the game as there are extremely limited viewing areas for non-tickets holders, and extremely limited public parking in the areas surrounding the baseball stadium.
  • Tickets will not be distributed at the game; only invited attendees will have tickets.
  • Due to security and checkpoints surrounding the event, there may be minor traffic delays in the areas near the baseball field to include King George Street, MD Route 450 near the Naval Academy Bridge, and Decatur Road on the Naval Academy base.

Saturday's game will be the first MLB exhibition to be played at the Naval Academy since May 4, 1987, when the Houston Astros faced off with the Navy baseball team. In total, 11 MLB exhibition games have been contested at Navy, starting in May of 1971 with a Detroit Tigers-Navy baseball matchup.
