Featured Firstie
POSTED ON: Friday, February 1, 2019 12:00 AM by Maddie Darbie
This week's Firstie Friday is MIDN 1/C Sam Teplov! Hailing from Holland, Pennsylvania, 1/C Teplov is a member of 12th Company. He is a Cyber Operations major, on the Superintendent’s List, and active in his participation with the Cyber Security Team (CST).
Of no surprise, his hobbies include anything computers, ethical hacking, working out, and reading, which he fits in when he isn’t busy with school or running CST.
As a Firstie, Sam is independently researching privacy concerns with Bluetooth in Apple products and has been working on his capstone for the past year, working to find ways of improving security for critical infrastructure in the energy and communications sectors.
A true academic, Sam hopes to study Information Technology Strategy at Carnegie Mellon in pursuit of a Masters’ Degree before heading to the Fleet.
As a Naval Officer, Sam will serve as a Cryptologic Warfare Officer. He hopes to be stationed in Fort Meade, Maryland, providing direct support on board submarines.
