POSTED ON: Friday, February 22, 2019 9:42 AM by Maddie Darbie

This week’s Firstie Friday is 1/C Thomas Imhoff of Twinsburg, Ohio. Thomas is a proud member of 19th Company, a mechanical engineering major, and service selected Surface Warfare, Engineering Duty option. He selected USS Ross (DDG-71) out of Rota, Spain as his first ship. He is also the Brigade Honor Investigations Advisor and the president of the Endurance Team.

1/C Imhoff loves endurance events like triathlons and long distance racing, but his teammates on the Endurance Team are what make his training fun. His favorite memories at the Naval Academy are the people he has met, especially his companymates in Free 19.

He is fascinated by structural engineering, and has spent this year as a Trident Scholar conducting research on how to adapt gridshell structures for use in disaster relief efforts. He was recently selected as a 2019 Gates Cambridge Scholar, through which he will continue to study structural engineering at graduate school in the United Kingdom.
