The Smiling Faces of 5th Wing Laundry

POSTED ON: Wednesday, October 9, 2019 12:43 PM by MIDN 2/C Lorenzo Cardenas

"Strange, isn't it? Each man's life touches so many other lives. When he isn't around, he leaves an awful hole, doesn't he?"
- Clarence, It's a Wonderful Life
For the past 18 years, Bancroft Hall's Laundry Service Center has been a consistent time saver and help for Midshipmen. Although the service started for only the 1/C and Officers, it is now available to the 2/C and Youngsters--sorry, Plebes!
At the heart of the action is Ms. Karen Simms and Ms. Kenya Crowner. Working at the academy now for 26 and 19 years respectively, together, Ms. Karen and Ms. Kenya have served thousands of Midshipmen.
"We love and welcome the midshipmen. We want you to feel like you love coming down to 5th Wing Laundry and can always stop by for a 'hello, how are you?,'" said Simms and Crowner.
The best part of the job is truly the midshipmen, many who give the time to talk and appreciate the help. Ms. Karen and Ms. Kenya agree that their favorite uniform is the summer whites! For both, prayer is big part of their heart to spread kindness, remembering Matthew 22: 37-39.
To all the Midshipmen, "Never give up!" and "Take care of one another!"
