Dr. Pierce Randall, a Stockdale Center Resident Fellow, has been awarded a prestigious fellowship at the Alden March Bioethics Institute (AMBI) at Albany Medical College. After receiving his Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Pierce joined the Stockdale Center, where his responsibilities have included developing and teaching in USNA's core ethics course and UK scholars program. At AMBI, he will be responsible for providing clinical ethics consultations--advising physicians and families when a patient's treatment raises challenging ethical questions such as competency, surrogate decision-making and end-of-life care. Additionally, he will teach bioethics to medical students and conduct research.
The Stockdale Center Resident Fellowship has helped launch academic careers for several of its newly-minted Ph.D. fellows, including: Dr. Alycia LaGuardia-LoBianco (Grand Valley State University), Dr. Adam Betts (Bloomsburg University), Dr. Doyle Hodges (Texas National Security Review), Dr. Andrew Bell (Indiana University), Dr. Michael Robillard (University of Notre Dame), Dr. Ashleen Bagnulo (Texas State University), Dr. Jesse Kirkpatrick (George Mason University), Dr. Bradley Strawser (Naval Postgraduate School) and Dr. Valerie Morkevicius (Colgate University).
