On March 17, 2026, the midshipmen from the Satellite Capstone Team and the Navy Space ECA represented the Naval Academy Small Satellite Program at the Department of the Navy Space Experiment Review Board (SERB), which reviews and ranks space experiments based on military relevance and technological value. The Satellite Capstone Team presented BearSat, a pair of 3U CubeSats that launches as one 6U and then separates on-orbit with the SPLITS mechanism; BearSat hosts a science payload from the Coast Guard. Navy Space presented: 1) OSPREY, which prototypes passive vapor-based VLEO CubeSat propulsion, and 2) Sauron, a light-emitting diode downlink LEO orbiter. All three CubeSats use the Naval Academy Standard Bus.
