Radome Installation

POSTED ON: Monday, July 15, 2024 8:30 AM by Christine Maceo

Culminating a yearlong effort in collaboration with the Naval Postgraduate School,  USNA became the 10th node on the Mobile CubeSat Command and Control (MC3) network in April 2024, with the installation of a radome/antenna system on the roof of Rickover Hall.  The antenna inside the radome is networked directly to the SSEL Satellite Missions Operation Center. MC3 is a provides geographically distributed network of community‐based US government ground stations for continuous coverage of small satellite communications.  Having access to a government-operations-level ground station equipment allows midshipmen to experience and learn about the state-of-the-art satellite operations architecture, significantly enhancing the workforce development.
